The club is directly involved in organising two historically important Mayoral or Swanmasters Cruises.
The bi-annual Mayor of Maidstone's Court of Survey Cruise,
under a Charter of Queen Elizabeth I, dated 4th
December 1559, accompanied by the Swanmaster; and the
annual Mayor of Tonbridge and Malling River Cruise, again
accompanied by the Swanmaster.
On alternate years to the Mayor of Maidstone's Court of Survey, the Swanmaster - originally appointed under a charter of King James I, dated 12th July 1619, - cruises the river, again with the assistance of the HYCC, to continue the annual process of ringing unmarked swans along the complete length of the River Medway, from Hawkwood Stone (Burham) to Tonbridge Castle.
